The latest information on the overhaul of 45133

NOTE: A plan for completion of the final overhaul tasks has been formulated, with a target for the locomotive to be serviceable in Spring 2026. However, this is very much a target date and is dependent on sufficient volunteer hours being available, along with continued financial support. It is also dependent on no major setbacks being encountered during the re-commissioning stages.
Update April 2025: Over the winter period auxiliary cables from the various machines throughout the loco have been re-connected now that testing has been completed. Some sequence testing from the driving desks has been carried out and re--installation of the field divert resistors is also underway. These are the last major components planned to be refitted before engine testing takes place. The new batteries have been topped up with de-ionised water and are kept fully charged using the on board battery charger. Insulation has been applied to the radiator area roof using a proprietary foil faced fibreglass product, and a new rubber edge sealing strip has been fitted. This section can now be turned over ready for painting when the weather improves. Other work has included refurbishment and re-fitting of the air strainer next to the battery box, replacement of fuel pipes to the injectors and further work on the cab floors and doors.
