The latest information on the overhaul of 45133

NOTE: A plan for completion of the final overhaul tasks has been formulated, with a target for the locomotive move under its own power in Spring 2026. However, this is very much a target date and is dependent on sufficient volunteer hours being available, along with continued financial support. It is also dependent on no major setbacks being encountered during the re-commissioning stages.
Update December 2025: A fantastic step forward in the overhaul of 45133 and a great morale booster for the Society was achieved on 11th December, when the 12 cylinder Sulzer engine was cranked over and burst into life for the first time in 8 years! There are a lot of immediate small problems to resolve and many more jobs to finish before the loco turns a wheel, but getting to this stage is a huge achievement.
New engine oil is pumped into the engine on 03/10/25
The exhaust silencer roof panel is painted black ready for re-fitting on 10/10/25
The engine is started up on 11/12/25, for the first time since the overhaul began in 2017.
